Course Overview:
6th Grade: Students will focus on the discipline of geography by using the themes of location, place, movement, human-environment interaction and region to understand the emergence, expansion and decline of civilizations and societies from the beginning of human existence to the Age of exploration. Students will take a systematic look at the history and culture of various world regions including the development of economic, political and social systems through the lens of change and continuity. During this, students will learn to recognize and interpret the "lessons of history", those transferable understandings that are supported throughout recurring themes and ideas.
Homework:
Homework will be written on the board everyday the class meets. You can check on it by looking into your student’s agenda. If a student is absent, it is his/her responsibility to find out and make up the assignments. All missed work must be made within 7 days of the absence.
Rules and Expectations:
My classroom rules are: 1. Be prepared to work. 2. Mind personal space. 3. Follow the directions of the teacher. 4. Be respectful of others. 5. Raise your hand for attention. In addition each student is expected to adhere to CMS, Westerly Hills Academy rules and expectation.
Procedures:
1. Enter the room quietly and begin working on the daily warm-up exercises. 2. Turn in all homework assignment. 3. Stay on task. 4. Do not get out of your seat without permission. 5. Exit quietly.
